Experience Australia's exciting new wine region

Launched in April 2010 - our New England Wine Tours explore the scenic southern New England wine area around Armidale.

With the stunning autumn colours of the New England now plentiful, there is no better time to get out and explore this beautiful part of Australia whilst enjoying some brilliant wines.

The day tour visits will visit Thunder Ridge and Mihi Creek vineyard on the outskirts of Armidale, as well as Merilba Estate near Kingstown.

Thunder Ridge boasts a beautiful fresh chardonnay, as well as a merlot for tasting, in their stunning cellar door which overlooks the surrounding valley.  At Merilba Estate guests will be given tastings of their seven wines in the fully renovated shearing shed function centre.  Hosts, Shaun and Kassy Cassidy will also provide a delicious lunch in the function centre

The New England region was proclaimed as Australia's newest wine region in 2008.  The New England Australia wine region is one of Australia’s largest at 27,000 square kilometres, is home to 42 vineyards, ranging in size from a few acres to over 100. The region’s vineyards can be found at altitudes of up to 1020m.

“There is no other region which has come on stream with so much to offer as New England. Variations in altitude, aspect, degree of slope, and soil type give vignerons a wide choice of variety and wine style,” Chairman of judges at the 2007 New England Wine Show, James Halliday said.

Travel will be provided in a modern coach for your comfort, with lunch at only $20 per person.  Don’t miss this opportunity to see New England and its stunning autumn beauty for only $55 per person.  The tour departs Walcha at 9am and Armidale 10am, with accommodation pick ups available.

Tours operate on Sundays, with group bookings of 12 or more by appointment on other days. To reserve your seat on this unforgettable day out, call Malcolm on 6777 2436.
